First Tee Golf
The First Tee of Ireland is a charitable organisation whose aim is to introduce young people in Ireland to The First Tee Life Skills Experience, a curriculum for teaching character education through specific life skills. Students discover how the skills essential to success on a golf course can help them flourish in life. Skills include personal development, teamwork & relationship building.
The First Tee is a division of the World Golf Foundation and was launched in Ireland on October 25th 2005. Other international chapters include Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, and Manchester, England.
The First Tee offers a modular based progressive curriculum for boys & girls aged 8 – 18 years old. Children do not have to be members of a golf club nor do they need to have played the game of golf previously. The First Tee has a particular interest in children who would not ordinarily have access to the game of golf and its positive values.
Our focus is on the development of the individual as opposed to their proficiency for the game of golf but over time and with the proper professional instruction, children can develop a love for the game and take their interest to another level by becoming junior members at local golf clubs.
We partner with local schools, community groups, school completion programs and youth organisations to encourage children to participate. The First Tee of Ireland and its partners will provide all the necessary equipment to enable children to participate and a nominal Annual Registration Fee is asked of each participant.
