Sports Development

Wicklow Local Sports Partnership provides a variety of support and assistance in relation to sports development in Co. Wicklow. The Local Sports Partnership provides clubs, coaches, leaders and volunteers with Education & Training in area’s such as Code of Ethics & Good Practice in Children’s Sport, Sports Injuries First Aid, Lucozade Sport Coach Education, Sports Inclusion Training.

In addition to this Wicklow Local Sports Partnership supports the work of National Governing Bodies of Sport, Regional and Sports Development Officers who have a remit for sports specific development in Co. Wicklow in the implementation and delivery of sports specific programmes which will increase participation in their specific sport and its clubs in Wicklow.

Wicklow Local Sports Partnership has facilitated the development of a Sports Forum within the County, which sees representatives from local sports clubs participate in the Wicklow Sports Forum. The Sports Forum provides an opportunity for clubs to guide the LSP as to their training needs, inform the Local Sports Partnership of any issue’s facing clubs, provide information and feedback.

Wicklow Local Sports Partnership runs two funding streams throughout the year for Clubs and Coach. The Club Development Grant Scheme provides support for the establishment of new clubs and the support of existing clubs. While through the Coach Education Fund Wicklow Local Sports Partnership is committed to improving the quality of training, support volunteers and increase the number of qualified sports coaches, leaders and mentors in sports clubs/organisations throughout Co. Wicklow.
